the meaning of life

What is the purpose of life?
Often asked
many answers
but what if it’s simple as this;
to know love.

Not just romantic love
but platonic love
familial love
love for a pet
or for a job
or even for a moment.

To know love is not complete
without loss
for loss reveals the depth of our love
an unending cycle
meant to show us our own humanity.

Because what is more beautiful than our capacity to care
to appreciate something outside of ourselves
we continue to love
despite a lifetime of losses
because the power of love overrides the aches of life.
